Software for Building Websites
Most web design software is inexpensive, and sometimes free.
Below are a few suggestions for good software to start out with:

Microsoft Office If you already have Microsoft Office on your computer, you can create web pages right away. Choose 'File', 'New' and select web page.
You will still need to ftp your pages and pictures to the server, but Microsoft Office is a good tool for getting started.
Macromedia
Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver is an excellent program for average skill to advanced web developers. It is more expensive than most programs, but it's a good investment for serious webmasters. You can download a free trial version here.
Front Page Front Page often comes packaged with Microsoft Office products. It is a good program for novice developers, but can cause pages to load slower.
Netscape Composer Often overlooked, Netscape composer is an excellent program for both seasoned and beginning webmasters. It is very similar to a word processor, and free. It usually comes packaged with the Netscape browser. It can be downloaded at www.netscape.com
